Conclave Coverage of Pope Leo XIV
The papal conclave of May 2025 elected Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost as the 267th Bishop of Rome, who took the name Pope Leo XIV. Lasting less than 24 hours over May 7 and 8, 133 cardinal electors converged in the Sistine Chapel and swiftly chose the Chicago-born Augustinian prelate on the fourth ballot.
